The Art and Science of Buying a Home

Obtaining a Mortgage

Regarding Financing a Home Purchase, Jeffrey Goodman writes:

"Since most purchases involve getting a loan, when you buy a home you also are "buying" the money, in the form of a loan.  For the best results I recommend an intensive exploration of loan options.  Since interest rates can vary widely, please consider loan packages from at least two sources.

For those who have an established relationship with their bank, definitely ask them to qualify you, as to downpayment, loan amount, interest rate, and other terms of their current packages.  At times, some banks will offer their customers a better rate than other competitors.

Also, I recommend that you contact a reputable loan broker, who should have access to a wide range of loan packages, from host of lenders.  Once you have a few quotes, review them carefully, ask any additional questions, and then evaluate the totality.  Keep in mind that just getting loan information, a pre-qualification or pre-approval letter, in no way commits you to go with a particular lender or mortgage broker.  During escrow you will make your choice or choices based on what best fits your needs.

As a seasoned realtor, I have a variety of referrals for lenders, should you wish to explore their resources.  The short list is kept current based on the performance of the lender or mortgage broker.  My clients tell me who is on top of their game.  If there is slippage, then my list is adjusted to reflect that.

Essential Elements for Buying a Home

Finding the Right Home to Buy

Regarding the Home Purchase itself, Jeffrey Goodman writes:

"Nothing is more important in purchase of a home than exploring the market in the neighborhood you are interested in. It is essential to get out there to view and inspect a good sample of homes currently for sale, and also analyzing the sales history of the area you will be purchasing in.  I work hand in glove with my clients to offer a detailed assessment of the neighborhood, specific street and location, and the positive and negative features of each and every property considered.

I also will gladly construct a free and personalized automated search engine within the Multiple Listing database for you.  It is pretty flexible, and you can choose to be sent email notifications of properties that you may be interested in the moment they are listed.  Being quick afoot is mandatory in hot markets where many buyers may be competing for the same home.

Contact me at any time, and we can set up a custom designed search for you.”

You can also do a direct MLS search in the application below.  I recommend you explore this MLS Search application on a desktop or tablet. Just fill in the form fields to search according to any parameters you wish.  Let me know if you need any guidance on your search.   I will be happy to help."
